I have only been kayaking for one year. Need some advice r/t my sea kayak’s gelcoat. There is a hairline crack almost directly over one of the bulkheads on the deck behind the day hatch. I can’t tell if the fiberglass underneath is involved. The bulkhead has factory caulk on the seams. The crack is directly over that area and cannot be visualized. No leak. Love the kayak which is a used Impex Assateaque. Should I worry? What should I do?

I wouldn’t worry about it. Gelcoat
cracks, even chips exposing the cloth laminate, seldom lead to anything. I wish they’d leave off the gelcoat and add a layer of cloth instead.
