Mounting flush mount on seat??

Hi All,

This is my first post on this forum. I just bought a tandem kayak and am looking for advice on where to mount the rod holder. I used to have a single kayak and I know where I like the rod holder to be. I like it about 30" directly in front of me. With the tandem kayak, this would put the rod holder on the front passenger seat. I was thinking about using a Scotty flush mount 244. It looks like it only sits about 1/4" above the surface. I could make a pad with a cutout for the mount so if someone was sitting up front, they would not feel the mount.

Do you think this would work?

Thanks,

Al

That’s teh cool thing about outfitting
Yeah, it would work. I wouldn’t do it, but that’s my hang-up about affecting designed in features.

I’d probably put them behind my seat far enough that it wouldn’t bump my elbow when paddling. But we each get to make our own choices.

Just be sure to plug the bottom so you don’t put a bunch of water into the hull.
