Inflatable sup

Just want to ask for some reviews on inflatable sup that seems to hold up well for an occasional trip to the lake. I am 5’10, 170 lb. What should i be looking for?

We went the cheap route

I found an inflatable 10' 6" Cascade by AquaGlide on clearance at Dick's while on vacation. My wife had been talking about trying stand up paddling so it was a bit of a gamble but at $475 including bag and pump, I felt like it was worth it. We only had to buy a paddle. We don't have any more boat room so the inflatable really fit the bill. It's a nice board and the bag has room for additional gear. It seems to have a really good pump. it has one fin that snap/screws into the bottom. So far she's been out twice and seems to like it. She paddles it kayak style and on her knees but has managed to stand up for a few minutes each trip. I hope to go again this weekend. The only limit with this unit is weight capacity. I am too big to paddle it but it's perfect for her (5'3" 150#) and a gear bag or cooler. She plans to fish from it as well. We couldn't be happier with it as a first board.

depends
Depends on your price range. If you’re not looking to spend too much money, Tower and ISLE both make good quality iSUPs that won’t break the bank.

On the other end, Red makes excellent iSUPs (their specialty) that come with an equivalent price. But they really are a great, high-quality product.

If you’re looking for some reviews, here’s this that does some in-depth reviews on the Tower and ISLE boards mentioned above: http://boardandkayaklife.com/best-isup-inflatable-paddle-board/

inflatable
I got an inflatable sup after research about dogs and sup. Mine is ISLE they have great customer service, have a warrenty and a few different sizes. I love my board and am 5’11 and go out with 90lbs of dog  in ICW nc

I have a tower inflatable and love it. But if you do go the inflatable route Tower sells an electric pump that I highly recommend.

Towers are good. Isle boards are good too… on Amazon you can find a good variety for decent prices. I collected them here http://supinsider.com

To be honest, it’s a bit difficult to make a solid recommendation without any mention of a budget. Starboard, Red Paddle Co, Hala, and Earth River SUP are all excellent choices as far as higher-priced boards go. If you’re looking for something cheaper in the $500-$700 range, I’d recommend iRocker, THURSO SURF, and NIXY boards.

As far as board style goes, I’d recommend either an all-around board or a touring SUP. If versatility and stability are top priorities, go with an all-arounder. If you want something strictly for flat water paddling and would like to be able to paddle longer distances faster, get a touring board.

I am fortunate to have the opportunity to test and review a lot of different inflatables, so if I can help you in any way, feel free to drop me a line through the contact section on my website. I’m happy to answer questions and help out in any way that I can.
