Will my old town canoe sink?

Purchasing a prep wed old town discovery 169 from a friend. It’s a steal at 200$, but that’s besides the point. I was wondering if anyone has had any experience with swamping their three-layer old towns. I want to know if it truly will float while full of water as their website states. Thanks!

Take it to a beach. Capsize in a shallow safe area . There is your answer.

It won’t sink, but it will barely float. The Discovery canoes are made of three layer, roto-molded polyethylene. The middle layer consists of a foam layer of “air” cells. This provides just enough buoyancy to keep the canoe from sinking. But if it is totally swamped, nearly all of the boat will be underwater (if upright) and only a little bit of the stems will be above water.

If the canoe had a lot of heavier than water stuff attached to it, it could sink.

Do this, report back.
I have an OT Loon made of the same material, It won’t “sink”, but doesn’t float very well when swamped. It turns into a log, it rolls very easy, making emptying it or getting in difficult.
