She'll look older when done!

Frankly, I doubt that. She’s currently looking for paddling partners. Go for it!

"Invitation for expedition paddling partners –
"join me on a section around North America!

"Hello to all my paddling friends!

“I have just finished my first section of the first circumnavigation of North America, having paddled five months from 25th of March to August 27th 2017 – out of estimated ten trip years.
I have started from Seattle twice, having covered so far 3850 km north to Kodiak – and 690 km south to Pacific City - out of the about 50.000 km around the whole ‘North Island’.
This first section, I was escorted half of the trip time by five separate and different paddling partners – Justine Curgenven, Mike Dziobak, Josh Thomas, Eyal Saiet and Chris May. Each of them escorted me spontaneously scheduled for 1-2 weeks (only…).
Different to my previous circumnavigations around New Zealand, Australia, South America and Ireland, I find very much pleasure now to share my trip and to paddle with a partner instead of solo. I’m looking now well ahead in time for expedition paddling partners for all following sections of my circumnavigation of North America.
You could join me for a day, some weeks or for several months. For 2018, I will first continue from Pacific City south in March, April and May, before starting over again north from Kodiak for June, July, and August.
My trip style is “curious travelling expedition”, while covering per day roughly 40-45 km in about 9 hours on the water. It may be more or less, depending on the conditions. I am NOT racing, and will adapt to slower paddlers, as much as I expect faster paddlers adapting to my traveling speed. I’m hoping to finally paddle TOGETHER and to have a lot of FUN! I like to share the meals, but prefer to stay in separate tents. I prefer to take one partner along, but it could be also up to three people at a time. I prefer female paddlers as company, but will also make up with guys – as long as their only goal isn’t just to compete with the ‘elderly Lady…’
Please bear in mind, I’m NOT a qualified kayak coach, although naturally, most of my paddling partners might have less experience in expedition kayaking than I have. I will do my best to keep us safe and to share knowledge where I can, but at the end, you are a paddling “partner” and not my student, and fully responsible for yourself. I appreciate if you share in return a lot of quality pictures and maybe videos with me.
The main challenges going south in 2018 will be the to avoid the big swell and the surf of the Pacific coast in unstable spring weather, while being in relative accessible areas. Going north, we will have to deal with stunning and rough nature, rough weather, brown bears and remoteness. I may provide a kayak (my spare “Freya 18”) for the northern section, to make logistics of shipping a kayak easier.
If you are interested to join me north or south, and like to organize your available time well ahead, please get in touch with me asap! Please share my invitation with anyone suitable you know. Thanks! I’m very much looking forward to interesting company 2018 and beyond!”

Anybody would look a little older after ten years, whether it is spent paddling the wild seas or couch sacking.

Must have piles of money. Wonder what kayak she will use. Others I know of failed which is embarrassing. Guess it’s who pays her.

She has lots of sponsors, owns a business in Germany, and has pretty good creds: http://freyahoffmeister.com/about/ I don’t think “failure” is in her vocabulary.

She also writes a blog each day - listed in the “posts” section at the above link. She’s paddling a “Freya” kayak but I can’t recall the manufacturer. It’s mentioned in one of her daily blogs as it did need some repairs. At some point she’ll be paddling the NYC area. Lots of potential paddling partners there.

Last boat was point 65 which failed. Before that an Epic failed.

“Fail” is a relative term when you consider that her boats get more use in a year than most do in their lifetime, at times in conditions that most of us would never paddle in. “Worn out” actually seems more appropriate in the case of Freya’s boats.

Delaminations and not far into the trips and not from bouncing off rocks.

Certainly the Point 65 failed way early, but keep in mind that she does drag these kayaks (sometimes fully loaded) up on shore.

The guy who owns Pygmy Kayaks has a daughter named Freya but they aren’t German.

All of us will … if we’re all still around.

On the other hand, some people age very well, like Ernestine Shepherd (age 81): http://www.menshealth.com/fitness/oldest-female-bodybuilder-ernestine-shepherd

So then you know what you need and build it.

I’ll be in Kick City when she’s done probably. LOL paddling in the clouds.

I’m 76 so I may join you. I hear the tornadoes are just as bad at the top.
