Inflatable Kayaks

There does not appear to be a specific forum category for inflatable kayaks here. Does anyone know of a good forum for inflatables?

Just ask your question here… There are a couple of inflatable forums that seem to be moribund… http://foldingkayaks.org/phpBB/viewforum.php?f=33
look at the dates… You don’t want to die waiting for an answer

An experienced kayakers friend of mine has one of these and like it: https://www.decathlon.com/collections/touring-kayak/products/kayak-1-seater-inflatable-drop-stitch-high-pressure-x500?variantid=%24799.00

It is one of the few (if not the only one) drop stitch, high performance, light weight inflatable that has a v shaped bull.

If you want a v hull instead of a flat one, that is (an inflatable v hull can be very unstable, if you cannot control it well).

My first boat was a Sevylor Tahiti Classic, and I’ve still got it, stuffed in a big four-foot duffel bag. Haven’t tried to puff it up in about fifteen years, but I bet it would still work. Delightful on rivers, spoils you with comfort. Free for the asking, but you have to come get it.

Moribund you say. I’ll see you and raise you a cumberbund.

I am not looking to buy an IK. I have had one for a few years. I am am a tinkerer and love tinkering. I am working on a project for my IK now. I am just looking for a place for more ideas

Based in the UK where paddlers often use inflatables… After all most of Europe is a day trip by train or plane…and inflatables are quite popular. Once there enter the word inflatable and you have a day of reading.

Not a single 2019 post in the IK section. :#

I guess my IK peeps are not inerweb savvy

@FunN4Lo What’s the idea you want to experiment with.? I like experimentatation, have some experience of inflatables (currently own an incept k40) and have a feeling for their strengths and weaknesses vs folders of various types

I had an intex explorer k2. It was great. Just a bit slow. For about $60 usually on Amazon you can’t beat it.

I missed your reply, as I was out for 10 days in the Smoky Mountains. A lot of it in our IK. We did a lot of flat water and some white water. But just before my trip, I finished a trolling motor mount and unique battery set up for my IK. We did a lot of paddling, but we used my motor set up to help cover some miles on Fontana lake. We got into some of the most remote regions of the Smoky Mountain National Park. My set up turned out better than I ever imagined
