I snagged an old Grumman 17’ Canoe today and started researching before I begin cleaning it up and preparing for paddling. The HIN is APB-0284XM75G, indicating it was built July, '75, which seems correct. It has etched (upside down!) on the bow “Abilene Schools”, which is cool since I live in Abilene, Texas. I am researching that tidbit elsewhere.

What I am confused about, however, is the prefix of APB, which appears to belong to Austin Parker Yachts. Can anyone clear up the confusion? A private label of the Grumman, maybe? It appears to be obviously a Grumman product.
