I like winter better

I like it much better when the
"Do you always wear your PFD", “do you always use front and rear tiedowns” and the ever popular “rudder, vs, skeg vs nothing” are frequently asked.

I can and usually do start a real good war !

Cheers,

kayak vs. canoe…
is the best

PNet Search Blows Chunks
Sorry but trying to get anything usable or even consistant out of the PNet search is an exercise in futility.

And for cryin’ out loud, everybody knows red boats are faster!

Tommy

That is uncalled for
I have had my disagreements with G2D and I know him from boatertalk.com. But I would never condone the kind of personal slander in your post.

Can we have a war
about what kind of fungus is growing in your yard?

I like winter better too! Because it doesnt snow the ENTIRE month.

I like winter better on the water.
Every one and their brother is at home watching football, and we have the rivers all to our penguin suited selves.

winter
Take it easy on Gnarlydog. He’s cheap. He loves the winter he walks up the mountain and skis down on half a binding.

come on

that's not slander.

in my OPINION, g2d is a jerk on these boards.

i don't know him in life, so can't say beyond what i've seen here for years on a regular basis.

i deal with slander six days a week, sometimes consulting with corporate attorneys.

doesn't pass the test.

Geez…
If you don’t want to read about something the umpteenth time then click on it. It’s not mandatory that you read every post.

I’m liking winter simply because it was a lot sunnier in February than it is now!

"doesn’t pass the test"
Who cares. That is completely beside the point.

The search feature here is not so good
First off, I find that using what seem like very appropriate keywords usually won’t bring up an old thread that I’m looking for. If I can remember who the original poster was, or who might have posted within the thread, I can always find something from the archives, but keywords? That’s a crap shoot that comes up empty more often than not.

Second, if somebody finds P-net while searching for the answer to a question, what’s the first thing they are likely to do? Probably think, “wow, look at all the stuff these guys are talking about. My question is pretty basic, so I bet someone here can help me.” When the day comes that I get ticked-off about something like that, somebody give me a good hard dope slap.

even if the question
has an answer on the very same page the question was posted?

Some posters have so little patience to not bother reading any material readily available to them, without any complicated search.

Something very specific and technical that was posted ages ago, I can understand, but a topic that was posted juts a day or two ago?

Is the subject line to the answer
obvious to someone asking a new question? Or is it buried in some thread with an unuseful subject line like “Is this how to do it?”

Scanning down the thread list at the subject lines often gives you no idea of what’s really in the thread, because posters use undescriptive subject lines.

Okay, just change the parameters…

...regarding what ticks you off if you meet resistance then. In case you didn't notice, I was addressing your original statements, not something you had not yet said.

But in regard to you NEW gripe, I think it's pretty rare for someone to post the same question as what's on the same page, based on the fact that anytime someone provides a link to a recent thread on the same subject, it is just that, recent, not current. To clarify, I remember a bunch of times someone has provided a link to a discussion that occurred within the last week or two, but seldom to one that is still ongoing. Even if that did happen, and maybe it has, I still do NOT find anger or frustration to be an understandable reaction. It's only a message board, which is hardly something to get worked-up about. Maybe you should take some time out from P-net for a while.

The four seasons
I like winter in Arizona better than I like winter in Illinois. I like summer in Illinois better than I like summer in Arizona. I like spring and fall anywhere. I like P-net all year around, cause I learn good stuff here. Don’t worry, be happy!

questions
You seem a bit sharp. Guess you have a whole lot more experience that some of us. Just for the record, I really appreciate those of you who answer and are nice and helpful. If this section bothers you, maybe you should not read it. Seems you know it all.

answers
You have identified a central p-net issue: “The only stupid question, is the unanswered question.”

The following comment is for original poster:

And if anyone thinks it’s all too stupid or too taxing to respond to sincere, reptetive type questions from people just getting into the sport, then just don’t bother to respond.

It’s only p-net after all!

Mike

guideboatguy, are you sure
"…I think it’s pretty rare for someone to post the same question as what’s on the same page, …"?

Hmmm, I seem to notice the same question about scratches on poly hull appear on today’s pnet front page only 4 topics apart… (http://www.paddling.net/message/showThread.html?fid=advice&tid=1145052 and http://www.paddling.net/message/showThread.html?fid=advice&tid=1145421 )

Admittedly that is a rather unusual coincidence but my point was that if anybody wanting to post a question spent only a few minutes to see if his/her question has already been addressed only a few days earlier the quality of this forum could improve.

Then again since users seem to find pnet searches rather useless, it could be that the administrators of this forum are quite happy with quantity versus quality (more hits= more advertising power).

donna, very flattering
from you if you thing that I know it all

In reality I know very little and I learn something new everyday. Pnet has been and continues to be a great source of info (mind you a lot of filtering and further search for confirmation of some statement is a must).

There are some real knowledgeable pnet users but those rarely write (most likely fed up with topic provincialism)

Bottom line to pnet users: read before you write (listen before you speak)

What do you mean by “topic provincialism
”?
