i don't know him in life, so can't say beyond what i've seen here for years on a regular basis.

The search feature here is not so good
First off, I find that using what seem like very appropriate keywords usually won’t bring up an old thread that I’m looking for. If I can remember who the original poster was, or who might have posted within the thread, I can always find something from the archives, but keywords? That’s a crap shoot that comes up empty more often than not.
Second, if somebody finds P-net while searching for the answer to a question, what’s the first thing they are likely to do? Probably think, “wow, look at all the stuff these guys are talking about. My question is pretty basic, so I bet someone here can help me.” When the day comes that I get ticked-off about something like that, somebody give me a good hard dope slap.

Some posters have so little patience to not bother reading any material readily available to them, without any complicated search.
Something very specific and technical that was posted ages ago, I can understand, but a topic that was posted juts a day or two ago?
Is the subject line to the answer
obvious to someone asking a new question? Or is it buried in some thread with an unuseful subject line like “Is this how to do it?”
Scanning down the thread list at the subject lines often gives you no idea of what’s really in the thread, because posters use undescriptive subject lines.

But in regard to you NEW gripe, I think it's pretty rare for someone to post the same question as what's on the same page, based on the fact that anytime someone provides a link to a recent thread on the same subject, it is just that, recent, not current. To clarify, I remember a bunch of times someone has provided a link to a discussion that occurred within the last week or two, but seldom to one that is still ongoing. Even if that did happen, and maybe it has, I still do NOT find anger or frustration to be an understandable reaction. It's only a message board, which is hardly something to get worked-up about. Maybe you should take some time out from P-net for a while.

Admittedly that is a rather unusual coincidence but my point was that if anybody wanting to post a question spent only a few minutes to see if his/her question has already been addressed only a few days earlier the quality of this forum could improve.
Then again since users seem to find pnet searches rather useless, it could be that the administrators of this forum are quite happy with quantity versus quality (more hits= more advertising power).

In reality I know very little and I learn something new everyday. Pnet has been and continues to be a great source of info (mind you a lot of filtering and further search for confirmation of some statement is a must).
There are some real knowledgeable pnet users but those rarely write (most likely fed up with topic provincialism)
Bottom line to pnet users: read before you write (listen before you speak)
