Canoeing in Colorado

I will be moving to Colorado in May and wondering about good rivers for beginners/intermediate skill level paddlers?

What part of Colorado ?
It’s a big state with lots of mountain rivers, that require some advanced whitewater skill.

IF you are moving to the front range, the South Platte once it is on the plains and parts of the Cache La Poudre are suitable for beginners. Central southern Colorado, parts of the Gunnison River above blue mesa, Close by in Utah -sections of the Green and Colorado -especially Ruby and Horsethief Canyons.

lots of options

"Introduction
Welcome to the fourth Annual South Platte River Joint Paddle Trip. This event is hosted by Rocky Mountain Canoe Club, Poudre Paddlers Club, Rocky Mountain Sea Kayak Club, Canoe Colorado, High Country River Rafters and Colorado White Water Association. That is SIX LOCAL PADDLING CLUBS!!!"

the above was copied from the S Platte trip, from the Getting Together and going paddling forum.

most all of the websites from thos groups have lists of rivers to do - its a lot cheaper joining a club and having someone to do the shuttles with vs hiring paid shuttle service

the South Platte, Colorado, Gunnison and Yampa all offer great moderate trips
