looking for a whitewater exper. in NY

A couple of buddies and me (all fairly experienced canoers) are looking for whitewater rafting outfit in NY for a weekend change of pace. Anybody have an unusually good (or bad) experience? Anybody you can recommend? We’d like the time on the water to be a challenge, but not the rental!

I can tell you to avoid this one

Read the article
The article seems to imply that Hudson River Rafting Co (which has many violations) is owned by North Creek Rafting Co. It’s not 100% clear, however…

Read the article I cited?
I did read it. North Creek is a town in the State of New York. If you are citing another article you didn’t link to it. There was lots of discussion on www.adkforums.com last year.

North Creek Outfitters is not the same. Nor is Beaver Brook nor Adirondac

heck here is the whole list courtesy of Google

Central, NY?
Would the Lehigh River in PA be too far. Very active rafting river.

Nevermind
I read the quote “ordered that the North Creek company no longer allow passengers” incorrectly. I didn’t realize the scary company was based in the same town - my mistake.

Good Experience
I had a good experience with Wayne Failing of Middle Earth Expeditions on the Hudson several years ago. They are based in Lake Placid.

For the western part of the Adirondacks (Moose or Black Rivers) you could try ARO (Adirondack River Outfitters) out of Old Forge. I have never used them, but know one of their guides.

this past wekend
