Big Bend Saltwater Paddling Trail

Not all wilderness areas are in the deep woods in fresh water. Take a look at the Big Bend Saltwater Paddling Trail on the west coast of Florida…

It’s a lovely area. My little photo above is from an area just south of the Big Bend.
There is lots of current information on the Florida Paddling Trail Assoc. website. Also see Doug Alderson’s book, Waters Less Traveled, for an informative and entertaining introduction to the area. I think I know another resource, but I haven’t read the book yet. I’ll post again in a few days if it pertains.

I have a guide with campsites
I have not done it as from what I read solo canoes and a party of one are not allowed.
So I just do day trips as much as possible

It is part of the CT solo although not encouraged is often done.

Check out Sea Kayak Day Paddles on Florida’s Hidden Coast by Nick and Sandra Crowhurst. It used to be available to download on line, perhaps it still is.
