problem isn’t more the big, fat front end of the kayaker.
Anyway, doesn’t this also relate to the different hip snap timing for (decked) c-1 versus OC-1? With the decked boat, the hip snap creates angular momentum, the boat snaps mostly over, and then the body reels in after like a window shade. An open canoe just can’t snap over as quickly, and some follow up with the blade is more needed to get the boat entirely over and the body up over it.
