Awsome
Wow Jack you guys rock!! Right from the 90 to another race you guys are my heroes! I will diffidently try my hand at a couple more races before next year’s 90, not quite sure I’m ready for the cannonball 90!! WOW my hat is off to you for doing that one! Can’t wait and see you on the water!
Round the Mountan
Plan on being in Saranac Lake next May to paddle the Round the Mountain Race. It begins and ends in Saranac Lake Village. nice 11 mile race that uses the 90 miler day 3 course for most of its length so you can see some of what you missed this year.
I too left home the day after I got back from the 90 and drove to NC for the Lumber River Challenge. The big challenge for me and the Baldpaddler was to beat JackL on a river id never seen. It was fun. My first black water river race. As Jack said, lots of places to get lost as the river meandered and side channels beckoned.

RTM
Actually the RTM race starts in Ampersand BAy, which is 1.5 road miles from the finish in Saranac Lake. After an initial 2.8 mile paddle south on Lower Saranac lake, you join the second half of the 90-mile day-3 route. it's all a good race and will show you some of the river channel and how to best navigate through it, as there are some tricky spots and other places to take extra care.
RTM Race
I will look into the Round the Mountain Race!! Sounds good, I would like to see what day 3 looks like, if not I was planning on paddling Day 3 course when I’m up in July!!
Third day course
The Round the Mountain will not have you on Upper or Middle Saranac and you will miss the Saranac River between Middle and Lower Saranac. Definitely do the Day Three Course while you are up there. And take your pit crew along for the paddle. You can lock thru and eliminate the last two carries. And both are a fun ride. If you don’t think your pit crew is up to it in one day, split the course at the Route 3 bridge and finish the course by running the Round the Mountain course on the second day, or just continuing on.
Glad you had a good time on the 90/65 Miler. And sorry to have missed you at the finish.
