Advice on rolling a fully loaded kayak

Yup…
Water in the hull does have a feel of “log”. It’s not hard to roll just slower. The movement of water in the boat will continue to move upon coming up and expedite a nice window shade if you don’t stop and “pose” – looking down at your paddle into the water. Trying sitting up straight too soon, you’ll likely end up going right back over.

A well loaded boat has the feel of a surf kayak with distinct sharp rails. You feel the resistance to a certain point, after which the boat really flops over quickly and is stable. I can only describe as having an “hinge” effect.

Haha, yes. I bought a boat off a guy who had fitted brackets that held steel weights on the inside of the hull.
He insisted on explaining in great detail why he had done this.
I just smiled and took it home, removed them and used them to fill up a hole in the garden.
It was a great way to make a lightweight kayak into a trailer boat.
