Anybody ever add foam to their seat?

I completely cut out the seat in my Valley Anas Acuta, and put one of those on the bottom. Best thing I ever did with that boat. Painful butt and numb legs went away permanently.

I’ve grown to appreciate the Wilderness System Phase 3 seats.

I use an approved throw boat seat PFD in my canoe to boost my height while fishing. It’s also handy for emergencies, kneeling, or sitting on during lunch breaks by the water.

You can not get them wet under any circumstances. It took 24 hours baking the memory foam orthopedic seat cushion at 250 degrees to get it to dry out. You must put it into a dry bag.

Definitely don’t add 3” to your seat height. I found the Cloud10 seat pad to be quite plush right over the factory pad of the Stellar S18EXP I used in last years operationdeepblue.org. That was 8-11 hours a day in the cockpit. Made the seat plush without changing the stability. $40. I keep them in stock at the Store.

An Orthopedic Seat Cushion does not raise you “3” inches. If you take out the original seat cushion, you are no higher then you were before. That is what Memory Foam does, it readily compresses in areas where pressure is applied and leaves the areas that have no pressure intact. Locking you into the seat, giving good thigh support and lateral support for bracing. Kayak Seats are notorious for being flat planes with no contour. I will renew efforts to get “Everlasting Comfort” to design a kayak specific orthopedic seat cushion that is waterproof. .

Are you really gonna disregard Marshal’s advice???

Agreed.
I have found the advice from thoughtful and well-informed contributors to this forum to be immensely valuable.
Not so for the charlatans’ piffle.

BA, those are little used words and may be beyond today’s reading level.

That’s partly the point, Mr. @string.
There are so many great but rarely used words out there, it fun to dust a few off and put them to work once in awhile. Thanks for noticing.

In my working days, primarily with engineers, I got a kick out of using words with more than two syllables to cause a little obfuscation.

Too bad they are meaningless.

For some reason, you made me think of a song by Steppenwolf from the 70s. It’s a little of topic, but brought back memories and made me think how things seem today. I’m trying to remember the word, “You’re free to speak your mind my friend, as long as you agree with me . . .”

I don’t think that I’ve ever seen that word but for Mike over at MYCCR
