Anyone using a depth finder?

Got the Vexilar hand-held and have
taken it on two trips into the delta now. I’ve been looping it on the deck rigging and setting it in so that it’s usually out of the water while underway. Then I have to use a hand to grab it and point and shoot, which is kind of a pain in the butt – but it’s amazing how quickly you get used to it. This method most definitely has helped me to figure out the holes and underwater structure, with the happy result that I have picked up a lot of fish trolling along.

If/when I get a dedicated SOT for fishing, I’ll get something that’s always on and easier to read . . .

SmartCast
The smartcast is a great setup with a rodmount, wristwatch based and station based sonars. Here is a good link that allows price comparisons on the smartcast system from a bunch of different sites.
