Back Band for Canoe?

Wenonah/CVCA

I've tried a couple of different ones, and the Wenonah/CVCA one gives excellent lower back support. It is cut low enough that it doesn't get in the way while paddling. If you get it from CVCA, he can set it up for a bench seat.

I could bring it along next time we get out if you want to try it.
It just straps under the seat. No additional hardware required.

I splay my knees in both my kayaks and
when paddling seated in canoes. The knees should be supported against the sides of the canoe.

It was interesting that the first owner of my MR Guide Solo had glued minicell pads to the sides to support his knees, and minicell blocks on the floor of the canoe to support his feet. Butt location is a bit vague. I may install a contoured seat like a partial tractor seat, made of foam.

If one is going to paddle on rough seas or rough rivers in a seated position, then butt, thighs, knees and feet should be helped to stay where they belong, the same as in a kayak except that the canoe seat is higher.

For kneeling, I use the dense, sticky MR knee pad. I slip it through the window in the bottom of my triple saddle.

It(Wenonah’s)also looks like it’s at a
good height, posture-wise, c2g & Ken…fwiw Both look pretty good…that one for Wenonah will be nice in the warmth of July & August.

Placed My Order
It was just what I was looking for. I don’t need it for paddling but just something to lean back on every once in a while when on trips. It was great speaking with the owners, sound like great folks and they were happy to explain how it works for swapping it out from boat to boat. Now, if I could just get some freaking open water!
