Benefits of canoe vs. kayak?
I think the postings have covered a lot of ground for you, but something that seems to be overlooked by most is the speed. A quality good tracking canoe can be very fast. My solo Wenonah Voyager will outrun nearly any other “Non-Competition” canoe or kayak on the lake. My wife and I paddled a tandem racing canoe as if it were a touring canoe. We did this for nearly 15 years and racing strokes were required if you wanted to be in control of the vessel. Racing strokes are a bit different, as it the philosophy behind the paddle, but speed certainly should NOT be a concern is you are a smart shopper…Just commitment.

relaxation, comfort, convenience > speed
Yes, I’m not looking for quick transportation or fast adventure… but instead for relaxed pace, casual enjoying the scenery and floating on the water.

While I would prefer a smoother gliding vessel, that’s not the top necessity.

The Advanced Elements would be okay smooth/speed-wise. The Sevylor Tahiti not so much, though I’d get the skeg, inquire about another owners homemade skeg, and consider other simple ideas.

Or maybe the sevylor canoes will be an option, they should be a bit more smooth in the water than the Tahiti.
