best paddle float and bilge pump?

Rig it like a Whitewater canoe
I’d rig the pungo like a white water canoe. Put in float bags and use a bailer. Get in and padlle to shore with what ever water is loeft and dump it out on shore. If you are going to be far from shore then do what advance ww canoers do and use an electric bilge pump.



By the way my old pungo would fit a 5 gallon bucket in front of my foot pegs. It was great floatation and durable storage with a water proof screw on lid. I still needed a float bag for the back though. I don’t know if the newer pungos will still fit the bucket up front.

wow, thanks for the bucket idea…
i’m going the front bulkhead route, but my paddling companion might be interested in the bucket thing as he prefers to keep that cargo “length” open for walking sticks and the like.



he does have a point, i’ve yet to come up with an acceptable option for stowing the stick.
