Best type of flash light for kayaking

Thanks again
I have a headlamp (a couple to choose from actually from my backpacking days) and use my small one with a red lens for night vision. This is more for when I need to signal my presence in a hurry or the occasion where you can’t quite see what you think is a rock or a landing and need to give one good look before going in. Some of the above suggessions seem to fit the bill. Thanks again for the advice. You helped me learn just what I was trying to figure out. I do like some of those dual headlamps - too bad they don’t have red plus bright white. I’d probably end up with a flashlight on the deck just in case anyway.

Take care,

daek night have to come in
through surf. Want to borrow a headlamp…

Back Up Light
One other suggestion. I have my regular flashlight that I carry in my deck bag, backpack or fannypack depending on what I’m doing. When camping I’ll add a small back up light in case my regular light fails for some reason. It’s also a good idea to have all your battery operated devices use the same size batteries.
