Big Solo Trippers

Best canoe I ever paddled
loaded or unloaded. If I could only have one boat it would be a Magic. The boat responds well to most anything you can throw at it. It is not however a good boat for small, twisty, shallow rivers but it turns well and loves foul weather, very good speed and will handle a moderate amount of camping gear and still preform very nicely. It has more volume than it looks because of the exaggerated tumblehome and only 23 inch gunwale width which make paddling a dream and wind shear less of a problem than wide open trippers. It is comparable to the Wenonah Prism but will turn much faster because of its moderate rocker. Prism may be a tad faster depending on who’s paddling it and stamina.

Souris River Tranquility Solo
This is one of the biggest volume solos around and needs a load.

Its 15.5 feet long and quite deep.

Next to it a Magic looks like a toy. I am not dissing the Magic, but have seen similar sized solos to the Magic next to the Tranquility Solo. Tinker toy…
