Oh, been there and done that!
Gulls in S. Florida love crank baits like Rapalas and Mirrorlures. I’ve caught a few.
It’s a bit weird when your cast never hits the water but you have a decent foght on your hands with the gull.
Fortunately, the ones I’ve hooked were easy to release (once reeled in) and I only got pecked in the hand a few times. I didn’t mind as it was worth the story.
