Stability?
Beginners need stability? When I have students that ask for advice on a boats stability, I ask them if they have ever ridden a bicycle. The answer is usually yes, so I point out that the bicycle is less than 2" wide and a good kayak is around ten times that.

Go for it!
With some guidance from a qualified instructor or altruistic skilled paddler there’s no reason not to get a performance kayak that will allow your skills to grow rather than plateu and stifle them. Increased potential for fun is not a bad thing.
