I haven’t, but have thought about poring boiling water in it to mixed with dehydrated or freeze-dried.
My next project before the big camping trip in July is to make packing lists with tiny font on a
Word doc both sides and then laminate them.
A cooking list, a kayak list, camp list, photography drone list etc
Maybe I’ll attach them inside the bags on a ring, I’m not sure.
The main thing we always say to each other as
we pull away: “Kona beans, hand grinder, dog food, Jet Boil”
Anything else you can buy
My favorite oatmeal. Add fresh fruit or raisins and for me it’s the perfect complement to morning coffee.
For car camping with a cooler we’ll always have plenty of granola and milk plus the fixins for PB&J sandwiches (see PB&J thread).
For wild camping it’s best to talk to the locals (some of whom may walk on all fours) and forage. In July in my neighborhood the locals have thrived for millenia on fresh fish, mussels, venison, fresh berries, corn, and tree bark (which also helps keep your teeth sharp).
Yes we love oatmeal also. I take pictures of food instead of keeping recipes so when I need ideas I just flip through food pics on my phone.
Today we made our packing lists.
We fit all our food for three days in the new smaller better Yeti. Everything is closed on Sundays and any “euro surprise holidays” and we go to some remote places so we usually bring our food.
Real food in the outdoors. No pouch food, No MREs.
Just remember that many SUVs like Subarus use power to keep their hatchbacks open. If you are going to camp with the lid up you need to disconnect the ground to your battery or risk losing power. Prop it up with a stick.
We scoped out the campground
and went to Lidl for a few things and to look for
Willowleaf items. Tomorrow we hit Aldi.
Tonight steak woo hoo.
Breaking the fast after a few miles paddling to Heiterwangsee, we were starving.
Dang, i want to go on one of your trips, you eat well!
It’s all about the food with us. And we only eat twice a day so we get good and hungry
I’m lucky that my husband likes to cook and watches all those Bushcraft cooks on YT and gets influenced
