I love my UCO
Just understand its strengths and weaknesses.
A candle lantern is not a replacement for a flashlight or headlamp. Some like to use them for inside tents, but I don’t like to risk it.
True, LED lanterns are safer, provide more light for longer, and I do use them sometimes, but I am not a fan of the ghostly bluish glow.
Best use for a candle lantern is mood lighting. It has a warm, subtle glow. In areas where you can’t safely have a campfire, a candle lantern can give you some of the feel and a similar sort of light.
I like the Uco Candelier
for kayak and canoe camping. They are quiet, bright and really help set a nice mood for those areas where fires are not allowed. Lends a nice glow to the evening meal and if you get the citronella candles they help with bug control too.
Of course, there is no substitute for a good headlamp preferably LED for max battery savings.
