which build method?
Stitch and glue? Strip? Lapstrake? Lots of kinds to choose from with trade-offs for each.

What type
of water do you paddle? Flat water like me or more moving water?

These are plans by the designer John Winters. Very nice boats and a good range of sizes to suit your needs. I have found these canoes to be very seaworthy and a pleasure to paddle.

This is the url for the builders forum which will help you with techniques should you decide on wood strip contruction. Plans for a wide variety of canoe are accessed from this page. Some traditional, some traditional-but- modified and some new modern designs. Most are very good hulls. Books are also available from these folks. Canoecraft is a good start if you go the wood strip route

strip vs stitch and glue
Building a strip-built canoe will take longer but can give you more rounded shapes. You can get very creative withusing different shades of wood strips. There’s some real artwork out there.

Stitch and glue will assemble very quickly as compared to strip built but you can’t as easily get the rounded shapes. You can get somewhat close.

Pygmy has a good reputation for kayaks, but I don't know anything about their canoe. For a good look at the build process, see

By the way, typing in ALL CAPS is considered to be YELLING in the online world. Some folks might take offense.

Thanks!
Thanks for the info about capital letters - didn’t have a clue!
