Wearing neo socks over Gore drysuit booties…does sand collect between neo sock and drysuit bootie ?
I use small grocery bags, tied around then trimmed with scissors, then Teva sandals. Sand collects.
Annoying caws the idea is preventing wear on the booties.
Right on the in water approach to cold weather clothing choices.
Even with a wardrobe and experience, in water for personal extremes is a good idea just to see what you imagined is out of synch with reality.
dry suit
I wasted time and money trying alternatives to a dry suit, but eventually ended up buying one. One case of submersion in cold weather and hypothermia will convince you that a dry suit is well worth the cost.
Drysuit
I wear a drysuit as well, based on the water temp. A wetsuit would be fine, too, if you won’t be in water that is too cold. If you get hot, you can always splash water on yourself for evaporative cooling or even hop in for quick dunk. Cold shock is a serious threat in water between 50-60, but wearing immersion gear is a smart idea well above that.
