No question, but not the funnest way.
EVent XL fit into Duluth #3?
Glenn, I see the dimensions of an GG EVent XL are 38.5 x 23 x 12 (HxWxD). (Interestingly, their ‘Large’ is 46.5x20x12.5).
Is that XL pack liner big enough for your Duluth #3, which is 28 inches wide, or does it waste a bunch of space?
Bummer -
You would think he would have been able to sell it rather than shutting down.
Glad I picked up that liner when I did.
Melenas, I’ll check
The first liner I bought was a Granite Gear AirVent Reduction Packliner - X Large for $29.93 from REI Outlet in 2010.
I believe I have a #3 original Duluth and a #3 Cruiser Combo. I prefer to use the Cruiser Combo because it has two pockets. I’ll check this weekend to see exactly what Duluth packs I have and verify that the XL Granite Gear fits both.
Keep watching this space
I'm in the midst of another 16-hour workday. I'll try to remember to look up the source this weekend sometime.
Turns out that I ordered them from Staples online. Also, it turns out that they are the same thickness as those from Duluth Pack, but they are thicker than some other bags I have which were sold as pack liners by some smaller company. I sure was wrong about the price I mentioned before. Mine were $1.48 per bag, $74 for 50 bags, to be exact. I now see that they are $3.00 each from Duluth Pack (in the long term, that's a fair amount of money saved, but in the short term, not at all). I remember at the time I bought them, I tried several times to get info about liners to appear on the Duluth Pack website, but got nowhere. I tried it again just now, several times, and it kept chugging away but doing nothing. Finally I let it run uninterrupted for 5 minutes and the bags and prices finally appeared on screen. If that particular feature hadn't been so slow to load the first time, I'd have bought liners from them.
The Staples website is no modern marvel either, with the search function being only marginally helpful in locating the product you want. The bags I got are 28" wide and 48" long, 6 mil thick, and the item # is 692283. Those are fine for a #3 pack.
check
I’ve got two
Thank you! The dimensions
of your specific pack liner may be different to what’s available now, though, if anything. The GG website doesn’t even list any pack liners anymore, but several “dumping” sites’ list the “eVent Sil Ultra-Duty Pack Liners” with the dimensions I mentioned.
Melenas, the dimensions
As you know the Granite Gear XL AirVent (eVent) liner is 38.5 x 23 x 12.5 inches, so it has 12.5" of “depth”.

I do have the #3 Original Duluth Pack and the #3 Combo Cruiser Pack. The Granite Gear XL liner fits and fills both.
While the Original #3 is 28" wide – five inches wider than the XL GG liner – the Original Duluth is sewed envelope style with no “depth”. When you flatten the GG liner so it is laying envelope style, taking away its depth, it’s width is between 28"-29". Therefore, it fits perfectly inside the #3 Original Duluth Pack. I wouldn’t be surprised if it was designed with that in mind.
There is actually extra space available in the XL liner when I use it in the Combo Cruiser, which has six inches of depth, but the liner simply folds and rolls up to accommodate smaller spaces.
I don’t think these Granite Gear AirVent liners are available anymore. They have interior taped seams. The extra height is very useful because trippers often over-top a Duluth pack with its long top flaps and long straps.
Thanks for checking
that’s good news. I have non-Duluth versions of the same packs as yours, so the XL would fit either.
