I was responding to canucnu and not really trying to make a point. However, I agree with your preferred approach to the OP’s repair. If my MR ever suffers that kind of damage, I’m gonna ask you first.
going glass
I think I am going to use glass if I am able to get it locally and at a decent price. I am going use this as practice in case I ever need to do patching on any of my boats. The owner of the boat will probably use it a half dozen times a year so the performance issues don’t matter that much. I do have a set of kevlar felt pads that I can use as a backup.
