I look for small sample size containers of most of the items listed and I check the expiration date every spring and replace items as needed.
Other safety items are included in a separate bag (matches, space blanket, splint, etc).
Thanks for the replys…
I will definately use some of the advice given here…
Added
I added it to my Amazon wish list. I might have to get some early, it’s been a hard winter on my legs. Doesn’t matter how much I ski, it seems they’re not getting used to it.
Other Good List
Other good list can be found here: http://sectionhiker.com/2009/02/03/diy-first-aid-kit/
in addition to “standard” stuff
a small bottle of murine or whatever - if you get sand or ashes in your eyes, or just red eyes from too much sun; definitely a dental repair/first aid kit, or at least oil of cloves;hydrocortisone cream for rashes or insect bites; super glue - it was originally designed for surgery, for binding wounds - it helps to pull very fine stickers like from cactus, etc - put a layer on and peel off with the stickers. I usually have some sore throat lozenges, and maybe a few cough drops in there as well.
