I know you dont duck hunt far off shore, but still when its that cold, surprisingly he made it to shore and up a hill a little ways. A drybag and bivy bag may have saved his life.
Goes to show that $100 of gear can go a long way. Even if you dont have a drysuit or care to wear one, a pfd and drybag with emergency supplies goes a long way.
