Show me a canoe that has a planing hull.
“Planing hull” is something of a misnomer whether we are talking about kayaks or canoes since these paddle craft are never propelled fast enough to actually “plane”. The term refers to a relatively flat bottom hull with sharp chines that tends to spin easily on waves when paddled flat.
But yes, there are whitewater canoes that have hull bottoms every bit as flat as those of “planing hull” kayaks. Below is a photo of the bottom of a Blackfly Octane 91.
