Make one at Delmarva
Matt - Just saw your question about the Delmarva Paddlers Retreat. If you go, you could make a second paddle at the Friday workshop. For $80, it’s a bargain. A good cedar 2x4 costs around $30 in my area. I find it really helpful to have a couple different sizes of GP.
With a little carving experience, you will be able to customize your paddles in the future. It works well to adjust the blade width, overall length, loom width, loom dimensions, etc. You can’t add wood, of course, but you can cut down most any dimension on the paddle.
