GP temptation

Why don’t you review the exchanges? Nobody insulted you or hurled ad hominem nastiness they way you did. A whole bunch of extremely competent kayakers, with decades more experience than your 5 years of local coastal puttering in a non-performance boat, gave you some really wise advice.

But you not only blew it off, you did so in a very childish and arrogant way, insisting that people who use spray skirts and know how to edge and roll a kayak are somehow clueless and incompetent. It’s surprising that the admins did not delete more than they did of your rude bluster.

Most people on these forums are grateful for the learned advice that can be found on here. I’ve been paddling 4 times longer than you and still consider myself a rank amateur compared to most of the folks who took the time to respond to you, only to be insulted for sharing their knowledge.

By the way, the first guy you sassed, Bryan Nystrom, literally wrote the book on Greenland paddles. Look him up. You were way out of your league in this discussion. And way off base in dismissing some world class kayakers as “knuckleheads” and “lame”. How old are you: 12?

I was almost hoping you were a troll, but unfortunately you seem genuinely convinced that you know better than a group of real experts despite a great deal of evidence to the contrary. Maybe there is a job for you in the Trump administration…

Now it’s Trump’s fault. :smirk: :unamused:

This thread saddens me. It’s possibly the most vitriolic I’ve seen on this otherwise friendly and helpful forum.

Can’t it just be shut down?

Just deleted my last, frankly it was gratuitous.

Agree it would be a good thing myself.

Can I vote? If so, shut this thread down.

Without a skirt? …surfing some 5’ waves? Amazing… That doesn’t work for most people.

Going to get him going again…

Wow, I read the first couple posts, then skipped to the end and posted an offer to try my GP…then went up a few and saw where this thread went. Yeesh. Deleted my offer.

Lake Erie is no place to mess around. You need an attitude adjustment and need to humble up. When big lakes get rough you need all the help you can get. When the waves start washing over the deck of your kayak, they are going land in your lap. Your boat is going to fill up with water and capsize. Swimming in a lake that big is not easy. Plenty of people don’t ever see land again. You do not have to like this message, but you need to hear it.
