Where did you get maps/charts for the area?
WAAS and Datum
No one has mentioned the two obvious reasons why you were off track. One, you were outside of the United States. If you had WAAS turned on in your unit, it wouldn’t have a clue what you were doing and if you were using the wrong map datum, it wouldn’t know in which direction to point you. These are two very important setting that you have to get right otherwise the unit won’t work.

good point on the charts and datum etc.
The map in my GPS came from Garmin Topo Canada. The maps we had we bought up there.
The coordinates for the launch site came from my buddy’s GPS…he had marked the location upon launch (and I forgot to) so I manually entered it.
