Greenland paddle for playing rough

I guess . . .
I’ll only really get the answer to my question by hitting the shop again, and making a wider blade paddle for comparison. Mine is 3 1/8", so maybe I’ll make a 3 7/8" wide paddle.

The other thing that is often deceptive at first glance is that you use the GP a lot of times extended. Leveraging really adds a lot to the power of the paddle. When you roll you leverage and it's also not angled up over the kayak like an EP and flat to the surface which adds a lot of efficiency. And for surfing rudders, most GP users extended the paddle too. Even if I have to put on the brakes, I often will slide my grip over a bit for more leverage. It's one of the things that differentiates GP usage from the common EP usage where a lot of doctrine wants paddlers to always maintain that paddling grip for all maneuvers.
