How do you secure a Greenland paddle to roof rack?

Wrap the loom with a split piece of pipe insulation, or sandwich it between foam pads and wrap it in a cloth sheath like canvas, then lash it around the cross bars so the rope doesn’t chaff the wood. Fold a piece of cloth around thin pads of foam or several layers of cloth and stitch up the open side and the bottom. Fold the open top end. Most kayakers use paddle around 210 cm (82 inches). Model it after the type used to protect Billiard Cues. Velcro or stitch a tie around the flap to secure the open end.

It’s just a paddle, not a Stradivarius. If it can’t fit in a vehicle, strap it to the rack.

Stradivarius Paddle

Consider using a paddle board roof rack with adjustable straps designed for longer items. You can secure the GP with padded straps or a custom mount to ensure it stays in place at high speeds. Just make sure it’s tightly fastened, and check periodically to avoid any loose movement.

Be inventive. Imagine using 1/4 inch plywood with 1 x 3 lumber thats glued and screwed to form sides. Put foam on the bottom and top, then cover it with another piece of foam. Hinge the top. Bungee cord it. Put spreaders on the bottom that can clamp or strap to the cross bars. Or start at the beginning of this thread and read all the great ideas. Jan 26 posts have pictures drawn. I think every possible option has been expressed.

A couple of 12" cam buckle straps will work just fine to attach a GP to the crossbars of a roof rack. A couple of pool noodle sections or split foam or rubber pipe insulation can be used to cushion the paddle if need be.

OMG this is still going on.

I respect people wanting to care of their beautiful tools. I almost bought a CLC boat kit, but then I realized that I’d be afraid to use it. However, there are more than enough options posted if anyone is looking for ideas.
