Hurricane Sandy

Several years ago I camped and kayaked along Lake Michigan. Had some great surfing when a storm came close. Real choppy and dumbing but I loved it! The winds go so strong up at Traverse City that we didn’t go out although I wanted to. The haystacks were huge and well didn’t wan to push my luck, and have respect for any body of water.

I agree about the rec kayaks. I see them all the time with no floatation or lifejackets. They even go out past the harbor which is nuts… and don’t look like they can swim a few hundred feet. It’s those rec kayakers who get in trouble and don’t realize how far they have to swim. But people will say it’s all kayaks, even us. Well, I agree and I that gets into another topic as no one wants restrictions either.

This is a great place to kayak in the winter. Not that far either.
