Forward this topic to the Magellan website and let them know how much business it just cost them.
Maybe they will get the message that abandoning customers is not a good thing. I have been trying to decide which unit to get and now it wont be a Magellan.

My Etrex legend has been fine
in the water. No seepage into the bat compartment despite rolling etc. Keep some silicone grease on the interface dots and its all good.

I’d recommend you get a GPS that can download detailed maps. If you hike its a fantastic feature.

I just bought an eTrex Legend…
… After reading all of the posts on my GPS question, I just bought a Garmin eTrex Legend and I am VERY impressed. I can’t believe all of the features this has, for about 1/7th of the price of my Aviation GPS. Granted my Aviation GPS is several years old, but this eTrex Legend is far more than I expected to get for $169.00.

… This is an incredible piece of electronics for the size and price. I give a terrific pat on the back to Garmin for a super valued product. I will reccomend this to everyone I meet.

…Thanks to all who replied! And Happy Paddling!!
