Inverters

Regulation?
What’s the range on the voltage regulator in your vehicle, and what DC voltage does your laptop want? Might want to make sure they agree before you wire directly. From idle with all accessories on to full-throttle operation is a huge difference in alternator output vs. load.

watts
the iGo Juice is useful travel adapter. very rugged.

the max output is only 65 watts though, and a 17’’ laptop might top that at about 75 watts or so

See how much that specific DC power adapter cost. Might be $30.

I really like he iGo because it’s also AC so I can use it for travel in my bag, and leave the other powersupply in one spot.

I also find the AA rechargeable batteries really useful . The Enaloop are great because they don’t drain down. I even have mini camping light that runs off AA. Also mini Mag, GPS, camera, remotes and AAA for the phone. MAHA makes a great 8 bay charger. I wind up recharging 16 AA a month, so I have 8 fresh ones on standby. so much easier and cost effective than buying new ones.

Yeah, Higher volts might be why
sigh…

It’s harder to step up a DC voltage than an AC voltage.

That’s why we don’t use DC on the street.

Still I’m surprised no one has a way to run an automotive DC to laptop DC system.

Where the heck is Tesla when you need him. Wait a minute he’s the AC guy!
