I really hate travelling in general but Ireland is on my list because of the landscape and surf. For this summer, I am actually thinking a week long trip to Lawrencetown/Halifax, Nova Scotia for summer pattern (sw wind swells) and/or hurricane surfari.
In terms of a another custom surf craft ( which would be my fifth), I have been seriously considering getting an extra longboard waveski from MacSki’s.
Ireland seems like it would be pretty amazing on many levels, I’d love to get a surfari in, but even a multi day walking tour would be great.
Portugal also seems like it would be a great surf trip, and has thriving surf kayak waveski culture, and some warm nice looking beaches.
Another bonus for the waveski, it’s probably easier to get on a plane, as it genuinely looks like a surfboard. The surf kayak probably requires a full on surfboard case, and some misdirection and bribery, to get past most airlines no kayak rule.
I made it up to Newfoundland in 2011 for a few weeks of sea kayaking, and it was an incredible experience, worth a return trip. I bet Nova Scotia would be equally entertaining.
I wouldn’t mind getting an early to mid-march Georgia surf trip dialed in, for some warmer water and good waves. Not a terrible drive from Boston, supposed to be some good beaches and down there. And 50 degree water would feel balmy.
I think the Santa Cruz paddle fest just passed. What a great venue. I participated in the novice division three times (and met Seadart there). The first two times, I was able to rent and borrow surf kayaks. These are way more available and rentable. My last comp was in novice waveski. I had to shipped my own ski there in a specifically made bag from Island Waveski. The cost of flying the ski was about $100. I think flying a waveski now would be three times or more that amount… I wish there were places to rent waveskis. Maybe the models by RTM that have adjustable seating and footbrace locations.
Likewise, we have a gloomy forecast for this weekend. But, again, on the plus side, we have surfable waves rolling in through Patriots Day. The marathoners should enjoy wet and cool as opposed to hot and sunny as in some “challenging” conditions of past Patriots Day.
After two days of heavy rain , high winds, and chilly nights, we have a day that is really spring. Bright, cool, and breezy.
I’ve gotten grass mowed, bushes trimmed, and the flower garden cleaned out and tilled. B)

Set a new record here: 37" of snow in April, most of it landing this weekend accompanied by 30 mph sustained easterly winds and gusts to 47. Schools still shut down: one of the reasons why is this elementary school photo:

OK, it’s spring fer sher here in central NC. A tornado hit Greensboro. Didn’t hit me but it wasn’t far away. Not sure if the roof gutters were already full or if the wind helped fill 'em but I cleaned a LOT of tree litter out the morning after.
