divers are using a "pee valve"
in their Dry suit. I just found out that divers are starting to use condom katheders to. Thanks to better dry suits and cylinder configurations, people are spending more time underwater and with that they have to use appropriate solutions. Also for women divers.

in general

diving is different than kayaking
Pressures force you to pee whether you want to or not.

The “discussion” is getting muddied.

mud ?
I don’t see what learning from other sports, like gliders and divers, can be negative or muddy. Of course the circumstances are different but so what?

if it were useful information sure
but its not.

Nobody is going to self catheterize especially a female kayaker.

just for the record
we are talking about external catheders. I know from the German glider pilots that using the katheders and urine bags was far more a psychlogical and social problem then it was a technical one. But I am using it now for more than a year and I am very pleased with it. And I admit, I dress and undress with a kayak poncho. My latest improvement is using a urine bag holder http://www.urocare.com/EN/Products/FrbcLgBgHldrsEN.php

buy what ?
what is this pee thing your buying n what does it do with urine ?

Kokotat installs pee tubes ? I cold drive by…

while we’re on the verb, discuss Magnesium Hydroxide ?

Age is not special
I am 74. And yes there are sometimes some special considerations based on age. But mostly just use the same equipment and same boats that younger people use. Don’t make a big deal about how old you are. Lack stamina? Paddle more. Worry about capsizing? Learn to roll. Etc. Just get out there and don’t do so much analysis.

shows exactly what I am using. It is even the same brand I think. But that is not important.
Kokatat can replace the normal relief zipper to the ankle, inside leg (or where ever you want it) or install an extra one. They have send me a picture but I think for me this placement is to low, just above the black (foot) part is low enough I think. But they do install a cover because a zipper with sand on it can't be opened. You can see the foto on this forum (register first)

I got the info from Steven Scarborough,

but I am sure that other brands can be of service also. With the suit I have for the moment I don't need it because it has a zipper from ankle to ankle inside leg (Peak UK)

Grimbergen
was my mothers town and much of my family still resides there. My son will be visiting in August. Love Belgium and would love to paddle there on next visit. Bob Wershoven

Grimbergen is a fine beer to

Triple
is a killer. Good game last night. Another subject.

how do girls pee in a yak
From an Australian forum (not suitable for dry suit  )

same as a guy - just go. then lift your spray skirt a little while edging to flush, then flick on the bilge pump. remembering to give a good hose out when you get home.

Or am I just a disgusting pig?

Yeah…that’s the answer ladies. Just lift the skirt while edging to let a little water in to flush. How simple is that???

It’s way late to comment on a 4 year old post, however thanks so very much for this validating thread, caveats and suggestions. Apologies for the pique here but much of the seniors’ stuff seems to be from genetically blessed healthy oldsters with - I’ve just come in from a 200 km paddle in stage 4 rapids uphill both ways and age is really just a state of mind - comments and universal unqualified prescriptive interventions. I appreciate more these sentiments which likely reflect another reality, in my case a 72 year old, arthritis and muscle wasting (so “just paddle more” will simply wreck my muscles and rot my kidneys faster) disorder with the usual sequelae who still wants to be out on the water up to and including that day when my kids push me out into the lake and shoot burning arrows at my canoe. We don’t all age either graciously or gracefully. Thanks again.

Wow !
All that, just to go out and have fun !

Fun is worth it !

I have had 6 surgeries so I can keep
going and regular physical therapy to keep the gains.
The driver for most was the desire to stay physically active which keeps me and my wife from going nuts.

Great attitude, string.

I hope Paul Nollen is still paddling.

@unknown Starting open water kayaking at the age of 70+. I admire your spirit. Wish you all the best.
