kayak paddle for solo canoe?

Let me distill my opinion on this
subject:

A double blade (be it Euro, GP, or wing) is just another arrow in your quiver. Try one, buy one, use one when you feel the urge.

And dogma be damned!

Hi Jim,

I fully concur with your well stated opinion! I followed that path for decades.

Single blade vs. double blade debate is analogous to the "I paddle a canoe/kayak and whomever paddles the other is a lower life form" statements.

Now, I'm restricted to using double blades by a damaged/reconstructed shoulder, not religious belief. It has been painful to sell my cherished collection of single blades.

(or on the water) it's all right.

Not that I'm changing my opinion. A good canoe deserves a good single blade. And a Pack boat is more kayak than canoe.
But I did have to give up my Caribou because I can't sit on the floor anymore. Won't say I'm happy about that.

Mohawk Canoe has double-bladed
canoe paddles.
