Kayak Towing Pack Kayak

I’ll test
As I expect easy paddling I’ll do one then the other and see what happen.

Try it.
As long as conditions are very calm and the water course doesn’t require a lot of maneuvering, you can get away with almost any connection to the tow. But if it gets a bit more challenging, believe me, you aren’t going to want the towed kayak to dictate how much control you have of your boat. From my experience, I would not want the towed boat too close and I sure as heck wouldn’t want the tow line controlling the stern of the tow boat. So do whatever seems right, but at least have a long enough tow line to allow for altering your plan–considerably.

Will do
Thanks for the thoughts. One thing I’m trying to not do is allow the expected calmness of this paddle to give me a false sense of what to do in a more critical situation. I’d like to have an idea of what the “right thing” to do is and then go with it regardless of my margin for error.

There will be a few quicker spots, though relatively easy all things considered and I’ll change up how I have things to see if I can feel a difference.

Then… when we get to camp I’ll drink some beer.
