I bought a 4x6 w/ no gate to make a kayak trailer. In the process of modifying. It has the metal frame around the base. I will be putting galvanized steel bolted to the sides for support and tubing for the horizontal supports to rest my kayak on. The tubing will be covered w/ swimming noodles(which also served as my “foam blocks” for my rooftop carrying-No rack of any type used). Storage boxes bolted to the wire mesh will be used for my kayaking gear as well as other boxes for my camping gear. When time allows, hook up to trailer and take off instead of trying to load the Optima w/ all the gear.
