Perhaps I misunderstood
Were you allowing the rope to slip around the pole or were you stretching it?

hold the rope pinched between your index finger and your thumb so that the bitter end is on the top and accross the standing rope (rope going off to who knows where) (rope makes a loop toward you)index finger in in line along the top (bitter end) rope pointing toward the end. just twist your wrist so that the bitter end comes up into the loop (with the right hand, it is a clockwise twist) the rabbit should be now thru the hole and the loop and everything the right way. if I explained it correctly…all done with the flick of the wrist, rabbit never gets confused
