Large Tripping Canoe

Tripper canoe
It’s hard to beat a Old Town Discovery for the money and hauling abilty. 100 Lds of hauling weight.

its pretty easy to beat a Disco
not a bad entry boat but there are many better craft out there…dont get misguided by OT “capacities” …those are not performance guidelines. There are two capacity figures and OT only gives one… the max for safety…the performance is going to suffer mightily.

Too heavy for me!
My back hurts just thinking of portaging a 100lb canoe. I like to try to get back away from the crowds as much as possible which usually means long portages. I’ve been using lightweight kevlar canoes for several years and have found them plenty durable for my use so whatever model I choose will be lightweight composite construction. I’m planning to rent either the Itasca or the Northwoods for a trip in June - just have to decide which to try first.
