Leaking Hatches-cover fit shift

I would suggest…
…that you reinforce the inside with a layer or two of fiberglass and epoxy. If possible, work some epoxy in from the outside by opening the split slightly. Pushing the hull or deck away from the sheer strip should open it sufficiently.

The other option is to cut away the unbonded section of the sheer strip and replace it. That’s the best way to repair it, but it’s a lot more work.

Thanks Brian
I’ve been looking at your webshot page (for years but especially today).

I’m confused about epoxy. Someone said I should use resin and catalyst and stay away from epoxy. Is this one of those ongoing debates we paddlers have or is there a clear cut right and wrong? This will be my first boat repair and I’d really like to get it right as I have a 2 week camping trip planned soon in Nova Scotia and do not want to do anything to risk a fiasco!

Thanks so much for your help.
