Good for you and your pocket $!
Actually, the GP I use is a Mitchell Horizon. NT’s custom storm is actually hanging on the wall of my office, as I am unwilling to beat it up (and it is a bit heavy, being oak and walnut).

Have seen a few, haven’t used being an OC-1 guy, but looking at a Werner…nice shaft(as in all kayak bentshafts) but would like have seen a little bend to the blade angle vs shaft, not much…but a little seems like it would be nice. Maybe they’re now out there…as said I don’t look much at kayak paddles anymore…

WOW!
Patrick, I talked to you a WHILE back and always thought I'd be purchasing one of your paddles....until my kid went to work for a local premier shop. He's been gone for quite a while from there( I"m REALLY bragging now) after graduating from the U. of Mich. and taking a commission in the U. S. Navy("Cause of 9-11 he says") and flying jets out of Pensacola, he still get's the pro prices so I'm most likely gonna get a Werner. Now , it seems like maybe I don't even probably need(I don't) a new paddle......I really appreciate and value your advice...more than anyone's on P-net for this topic...and am totally rethinking my thoughts on a purchase as I'm very happy with my current selection of paddles....You old timers might remember the Whetstones from a while back.... I've got 3 different ones as well as a bunch of others but sometimes, one just wants to make another aquisition....
Naw...I want a new paddle.....I think maybe I should be e-mailing you soon.... thanks for your input.....If jackL is impressed....
Ya know,…
I called him a couple weeks ago to try to reignite a relationship that I thought we had, but with no acknowledgement from him, I guess I was mistaken… All I can say, is I really wonder what his wife must think about his total withdrawal from the sport. I met her and I know she knew how important paddling was to him at the time. I also realize priorities change…I’m also am pretty sure he’ll read this…not that it seems to matter any more…
what are you paddling?
I have an H2O for my w/w paddling. I have arthritis in my hands and the bent shaft is much more comfortable for me. The H2O has more of a bend than my Werner although a tad heavier. For my sea Kayak I have a bent shaft AT, the bend isn’t too pronouced so if I can get a deal on something more pronounced this summer I may jump on it. If I get my butt in gear I have found plans to make a greenland paddle, I don’t know how well it’ll work with my hands but I really want o build it and try it myself.
Pretty much Valley boats…
I have a bunch of boats…but for the paddling I’m considering a bent shaft for it a Valley Aquanaut or Avocet. Mostly for Lake Erie 'cause it seems for the last few years, on any inland waters, I’m paddling a canoe…even though I’m a kayaker at heart…
Have you been out on the Lake yet?
I haven’t, but have been itching to go…I’ve been canoeing for about 5 weeks now on inland stuff…I’d have been back to Lakewood, but I seem to have to work almost every weekend lately( things should be so good for everybody)and with other stuff, just can’t seem to make it a priority…m I’d really be interested in accompanying you on a outing…
sure
We can get together some weekday night and go for a paddle. I prefer to paddle out of Rocky River marina - decent change facilities, easy launch.
