Loose Yakima straps

yea, I guess???
To put my post simpler:

You said the other straps worked fine. So The first thing that came to my head was-

“If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it”

I’m sure you have your reasons as others do also for what they do.

Paddle easy,

No kidding?
Did you have the straps threaded backwards through the buckle?

Jim

PS: Check the most recent NRS catalog. THey now market a urethane bumper to cover your buckles and protect your car’s finish.

No, not threaded backwards.
I’m aware of how to thread them. I was just saying that Northman’s idea would be proof positive that the buckles are slipping.

I have read most of your threads or heard about some of them from other paddlers. If your rachet system works for you them by all means keep on using them. I can see longshadows point that he has trusted the brand that makes the straps and has had no problems with his other straps. I find it nice that you try to help others to find a less expensive way to paddle but I can tend to paddle in a less expensive way but with name brand appearl. It is called a Sale or a Clearance of the products of the past year. Try it you may even surprise yourself.

I personally would call Yakima and ask them if they have had other complaints about the straps. They could replace them for free. Northman also make a good point about a way to find if the straps are slipping or stretching.
